Chalkboards

The MTA Chalkboard is written and published by MTA members, under the direction of Trish Huestis (Austin Road). This is a great resource, which has been recognized both locally and statewide as one of the top union newsletters.  It is a great way to keep up with the work the MTA is doing. You may also register to have the Chalkboard emailed to you directly when it is published to the website.

Welcome to the website for the Mahopac Teachers’ Association, a union of caring and dedicated
professionals serving the educational needs and interests of our community.  This site will serve as a conduit to all for all of the wonderful things that we as an Association do in the name of our students and their
families.  As the school year progresses, it will predictably take on a life of its own.  Just as predictably, the members of our Association will be fully engrossed in a variety of different endeavors.  We will be nurturing our students' academic development, easing the concerns of some parents whose children are getting on the bus for the first time or quelling the anxieties of others who are getting ready to embark on their child’s senior year and the looming thoughts of higher education. Through all of this and so much more will be the incredible work that we do in our philanthropic efforts.  From the opening week Dress Down Day, where our members begin our yearly campaign to raise dollars for so many different causes, to our campaign for the American Cancer Society with the Breast Cancer Walk, we will once again demonstrate that we are a strong, civically based organization that leads by example.

So as you navigate this site, take a moment and see for yourself the collective efforts of the Mahopac Teachers’ Association.  What will leap off of the pages that you open is how much we do in the names of our students, their families and the community as a whole.

Sincerely,

Michael Hunt
President
